The tiny albino echidna regarded me for a second, her emerald eyes studying my own golden eyes.

Finally, she reached up with both little arms and put them around my neck. She buried her face in my chest fur and wept, wept like she'd been holding back years of tears. I gently wrapped my arms around Madame and held her close.

"I mean it," I said softly.  "You're safe now. I will do what I must to make sure no one hurts you, ever again, in any way."

I couldn't tell you how long she cried- it felt like hours. But I didn't stop her or push her away- this, I was sure, was something she really needed.

He's probably just as good a shot as Merida...perhaps even better, but I would imagine he's impressed by such a young girl being as good as she ^^
